MedView Flow has today launched a new digital basket innovation to ensure that Australian pharmacies have a fully digital script workflow.
Based on world-leading electronic shelf technology, the new digital basket bridges the gap between digital processes and existing use of plastic prescription baskets.
This improves customer service and introduces important measures in patient safety at the point of script collection.
According to pharmacist and CEO of Fred IT, Paul Naismith:
“Pharmacies are assiduous in their checks to ensure that patients receive the right medication - but any potential error in handing the wrong medication to the wrong patient is one mistake too many. This new digital basket provides pharmacists with very easy patient safety checks whilst also consolidating paper and eScripts into one dynamic workflow queue.”
Fred IT has filed a patent for the world-first, as Naismith explains,
“Fred IT invented this here in Australia after scouring the globe and finding that there was no single preexisting solution that suitably addressed the workflow gap between digital and paper-based processes.
This is an important example of the role of technology innovations in supporting pharmacy and delivering on businesses critical areas of patient safety and customer service.”
Patients will still submit scripts in the same way that they do now. However, with the new digital basket:
We’ve trialled Digital Baskets in busy pharmacies across Australia. Here’s how the system is revolutionising dispensary workflow and improving customer service.
“We have found that this digital basket works seamlessly in our dispensary and saves lots of headaches. It’s another step in making things smoother and more seamless in our dispensary – adding value to the pharmacy and great for our customers as well.”
