Fred IT in consortium delivering Australian Defence Force eHealth system

Fred IT Group, working with a consortium led by Leidos Australia, will deliver the pharmacy solution for the Australian Defence Force’s new digital health system.

The new eHealth system will unify patient and clinical information across healthcare settings and stages of care in the ADF community. For the first time, ADF clinicians in primary care, pharmacy, dental, emergency and hospital care will have visibility of real-time patient information and care notes.

According to pharmacist and CEO of Fred IT, Paul Naismith,

“We know that providing clinicians with access to smarter, real-time clinical decision-making tools saves lives and improves patient care whilst also making life easier for health professionals. We are delighted to be involved in this project, which will strengthen the role of health information in patient care for the Australian Defence Force community.”

Fred’s new generation dispensing solution, Fred Dispense Plus, will form the pharmacy backbone of the new system, capturing vital real-time dispensing and medications information.

Fred Dispense Plus enables smarter, safer dispensing as a result of improved safeguards against cyber risk, and faster, more secure access to clinical intelligence and third party applications. It retains the much-loved functionality of Fred Dispense, used by the ADF since 2001, enhanced with a modern feature rich interface.

In addition to Fred IT and Leidos Australia, consortium partners include Alcidion, Ascention, Coviu Global, MediRecords, Nous Group, Philips Electronics Australia, Precision Medical and Titanium Solutions Australia, Cerner Corporation and QlikTech Australia.

Development of the new electronic Health Knowledge Management system is underway, with rollout scheduled to begin in 2023.
